Server Management tools

Dear list,

I was wondering whether anyone knew of any pre-existing server  
management tools/ toolkits?

I am looking at a group of 10 debian servers, each running up to 10  
java services. What I would like to do is install the java services  
on every machine and then should one of the machines die, start those  
services on another machine. I am quite happy to do this by hand - it  
does not need to be automated.

I am in the process of writing simple perl scripts with config files  
to start/ stop/ restart them all from a central server with config  
files - Was wondering whether anyone knows of a toolkit - preferably  
with a pretty clicky interface so that we can allow our support to  
deal with some of these problems...

Any suggestions?

PS: Looked at things like OS containers and Solaris zones, but that  
all seems overkill - especially since Java brings its on Virtual  
Machine with it anyway.
