/var/cache/postfix is not a standard directory, so I assume you
created it yourself. Could it be that it gets purged somehow?

If Lamont is listening, then this is a serious plea for him to
include /var/cache/postfix with postfix-tls and to modify the
default session cache locations so that they go there and not <gasp>
into /etc/postfix.
