no question. of course.
have a look at libmail-bulkmail-perl before you reinvent the wheel
though. and do consider that 3000 subscribers isn't all that much. why
not simply let a mailing-list manager handle that. mailman does two
lists of about 6000 subscribers just fine, ezmlm of qmail is even more
performant (yes, i am aware of djb's personality).
