Re: mail spool

I've done some more experimenting and I've found that sometimes the mail is
remarked and sometimes it isn't! It apparently depends on what was used to
send the mail in the first place. Mail I send to myself and then forward
with formail is remarked as coming from root. But some of the mail other
people sent to my admin account isn't remarked. Check out these two emails.
They were sent to myself from different email progs and were both in my mail
spool together when I forwarded them with formail.

This message I sent to myself using hotmail. I then bounced it to another
account of mine (pohl) with formail. This time sendmail accepted the
existing headers. It retained the existing hotmail msg-ID and From: field.

This message I sent to myself from my own account. When I used formail to
bounce it to another account of mine (pohl), sendmail disregarded the
existing headers and made a new msg-ID, new envelope, etc. You can see the
break between the old headers and the new ones.

I've looked over them and the only difference I can see is the additional
">From" header located at the very top of the message I sent from my
personal account. The message I sent from hotmail starts off with a
"Received" header at the very top. I looked at the messages raw in the mail
spool and both are topped with the traditional "From" field that marks the
beginning of a message. But some emails have that additional ">From" field
directly below that. Then the Received headers. So it appears to be the
extra ">From" field that is throwing off sendmail and making it think the
message is not a valid SMTP construction.

Any ideas on how to deal with that? A way to make formail throw away that
>From field perhaps?
