Maybe you weren't looking for a simple answer; I have had to do this a
few times. Just ftp the files over as USERNAME.old then do a
 cat USERNAME.old /var/spool/mail/USERNAME > /var/spool/mail/USERNAME
(Of course, this would only work, if you have access to the new mail
machine.)
