Well, you left out the ifconfig output so it's hard to check whether the link-local addresses in the routes are as they should be. :-)

fec0:0:0:7000::/64 dev eth0  proto kernel  metric 256  mtu 1500 advmss 1440
...
default via fe80::2ff:34ff:fef3:8b2f dev eth0  metric 1024  mtu 1500 advmss 1440

It looks to me that this default route from iii-gw1 could be the problem. Tracing from ldap to pathfinder(tun0) uses the fec0:0:0:7000::/64 on-link route, while anything beyond that falls to the default route.
