I’m ready to help but after some (probably too short) reading I couldn’t understand what I am supposed to do.
I’m myself a Plasma user but not a user of alternate inputs methods so the problem is not clear to me.

Would you mind summarizing the issue we’re trying to fix, how to reproduce it and what is this fix that Gunnar dit for GNOME that you mentioned above ?
