I believe the answer to that is "yes". However, I believe Sergey actually got
a Wayland session running on the Hurd. It had lots of issues. Also rump kernels
may provide a DRM implementation. Not sure. Feel free to ask your questions on "#hurd"

Simple say, "sneek later tell solid_black When will the Hurd support Wayland? I'm really curious. How can I help"

Sneek is a bot. Sergey (solid_black) knows a lot about Wayland and how to port it to the Hurd.
If he is not currently logged in to #hurd (irc), then sneek will ask him the next time he joins irc.
