Please see the patch item #312483 on this page[0] that solves the PATH_MAX problem in sound/hexter-0.6.1 package. I was able to build the package after the patch.

Errr, no, by 'reporting a bug', I meant to use the reportbug tool.
$ sudo apt-get install reportbug
$ reportbug hexter
and attach your patch to the mail.
