There is a large amount of cooridination between the Hurd and the Debian GNU/Hurd project. Mach and Hurd are both maintained upstream, although Debian does keep some patches that we don't (or still haven't merged upstream)

hmmm... so how much of the Hurd/Mach port work comes from upstream and
how much from debian? Is this an effort that has mostly been relegated
to debian or does it continue upstream?
