   I know there is no dhcp support in hurd.

Then you know wrong. ;-) Marco hacked together a patch for DHCP, it
should be somewhere in the bug-hurd@gnu.org mailing list archives.
Then you can just use dhclient to get the IP and other love.

   Does anyone know where this file is downloadable from?

You can get it by doing `cvs up pump.c' in [hurd]/trans, it was
removed since it was horrible broken.
