He  said that  he intended  to release  a GNU  system,  different from
Debian GNU/Hurd,  at the end of 2002.  He never said that  would be an
1.0 or stable version, and this project was delayed. 

If there is a release of GNU soon, it'll probably GNU 0.3. (The latest
official release being the Hurd 0.2).
