If anything than SCO's lawsuit proves that RMS has always been right with
insisting on copyright assignments and being careful about copyright history
of the source code you write. The sloppiness of Linux and other "Open
Source" developers in not caring about copyright issues properly now
backfires to them. The FSF did repeatedly educate everyone on what is
required, but their advise has been largely ignored in certain circles.
The copyright of the Hurd and other GNU sources is fully accounted for,
though.
