There is. It's called the Mail-Followup-To header, and it's supported
by an ever increasing number of MUAs (including newer Mutt and Gnus).

Since people have a choice of setting "MFT: <list of everyone but me>"
in their headers, I like to understand failing to do this as asking to
receive a copy. (OK, the fact that hitting F and not editing to and cc
is the least work probably weighs in, too :)

Ditto. This makes it easier to notice that someone replied to your list
posting, even if you don't check the list folder that often.
