 I know about wget, and this is not relevant to this topic.  Lionel was looking
for a place to get the extra packages.  I have never used the cross-install
script so I don't know how exactly it works.  I suspect the way to run it would
be
./cross-install /gnu
[wait for some failures]
./cross-install --download ftp://alpha.gnu.org /gnu
