On this particular point (GNU = GNU/Hurd always) I disagee.  While you
may feel it's "wrong" there are other factors to consider.

I feel that GNU by itself is too ambiguous.  Do you mean the GNU
project?  GNU system?  If system, which one?

Names should have meanings associated with them.  If the meaning is
ambiguous you do not help others understand by promoting some particular
meaning and ignoring all other possible interpretations.
