I use reiserfs, and would put my vote on that.  I've been doing some
thinking of how hard it would be to port that to the hurd, and I must say I
know far too little about the hurd to tell, but as some filesystems already
are ported it can't be too hard.

Also needed is support for large partitions.

I haven't tested the hurd since about a year ago, but I'm excited by all
stability improvements and package ports I hear about in these lists.
It appears to me that the hurd may be "fully functional" in a year or so.
