You can find something in http://www.debian.org/ports/hurd/hurd-doc but
efforts are not so-well organized as LDP for example.  Write to
help-hurd@gnu.org or debian-hurd@lists.debian.org.  You can try IRC too
(#hurd at irc.openprojects.net).

There is no binary compatibility with Linux and probably there will not be.
Hurd is so unlimited in many ways...  But what Linux commands did you try?
Probably they are not installed by default.
