No, but it was:

node@genius:~/proj/flac$ ls -l `which xterm`
-rwxr-sr-x    1 root     utmp       263004 Mar  4 13:01 /usr/bin/X11/xterm

It's now not g+s and it does work.. weird (to me, at least.)
