Yeah, I will have to recompile this stuff and be more careful about library
dependencies and such. Removing db from /etc/nsswitch.conf also works.

Not at all. Your translator setting seems to be messed up. Run settrans with
the option -ap and show us the output. settrans -apfg /servers/socket/2 ...
