Many thanks for the quick responses. Your advice did the trick. As it
turns out, I had the Grub partition number right, but the Mach slice
number was off.
This issue is indeed covered at great length in the Hurd FAQ-- my
apologies for not looking there first. I had relied on the Install
instructions included with the GHKK, which seem to indicate that slice
numbers count up from zero and thus track the Grub partition number.
