It is compiled with --host=i386-gnu.

I can't believe that it should work on i486, but not on i386. If everything
is correct, it should work for all intel processors.

I'm not sure what you mean. I compiled the gnumach-1.1.3.tgz, I don't know
about newer releases. I used pristine sources.
