I wouldn't be that pessismistic. As you noted, some of the changes
certainly won't go upstream...but I expect the non-parisc diff to
shrink as changes from 2.6 are backported into 2.4 or or no longer
need changes like the driver updates I added.

If Martin is interested, he should do the work to generate
and test the patches on ia32. Speaking only for myself,
it's not a priority since the CVS tree "Works For Me" (tm).

I agree...unless someone puts alot of effort into resolving those
issues.
