Is motif and xlib doomed to never work again in the future?

XWayland is supposed to make it possible to run older X11 based
programs like xlib or motif. But it's supposed to be until they're
'upgraded' to wayland, implying it's delaying their deaths a tiny bit.
I love a lot of those older x11 and motif based applications, will
XWayland continue to be shipped for the far future?

I'm asking on the gtk-gnome list, because I know that GNOME now lets
you compile without XWayland built, does that mean it won't ever allow
XWayland to ever run? Just wanted some clarification please.
