It should be easily doable to add the filters, that g-s-t offers, to t-s-t. But as you already said, development of t-s-t is a bit stalled. Just my 2¢: having a dedicated search application is nice, but much more important is integrated search (and tagging) everywhere and this is the focus of tracker. The integration of tracker search in nautilus and the gtk file selector is just a start.
