nautilus, tracker and beagle
Hello GNOME team,
I just tested Tracker against my relatively well-populated home
directory and my preliminary conclusion is, that beagle is still far
more mature, supports more data sources, delivers better and more
complete search results and, yes, it is not even slower. While tracker
is lightning fast when dealing with small amounts of data, it hangs a
lot in a real-life environment like mine.
Therefore I wonder if the GNOME team could reconsider building
nautilus against both tracker and beagle. Current builds are only
tracker enabled, while Ubuntu delivers nautilus packages built against
both.
This would introduce an additional dependency on libbeagle0, the size
of which is no more than a few hundred k.
Thanks,
Johannes
