I often realize myself searching for the wished option in the Ubuntu dialog.
So it pop ups fast but it takes some time for me to locate the right action.

As you mentioned, the greatest benefit of the Ubuntu solution is having
a very prominent way to access the dialog: a launcher is located in the
right top corner. So this would be a trade off with the window switcher
that is currently located there. I use this button more times during a
session than the quit button in Ubuntu.

Ideally the suspend action should be tiggered by the lid close event, so
you would not need such an option in most cases. But who can trust his
or her laptop that it always suspends correctly :)
