I thought you could do something like this, Dave:

Add the following line in /etc/apt/sources.lis:
deb ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/ ../project/experimental main

sudo aptitude update

sudo aptitude -t experimental install gnome-desktop-environment

But it seems that GNOME 2.12 is not yet complete in experimental, you
can only upgrade some parts of GNOME.
