Inform user when currently running programs are upgraded
Hi,
When a package is upgraded when the program in it is being used at the
same time, seemingly random problems may occur. The is particularly the
case when gconf schemas are changed in the upgrade (e.g. bug #231515).
Is there anything we can do about this?
Perhaps run a program in the postinst to warn a user (i.e. pop up a
gnome warning dialog) when a program they are using is being upgraded.
Perhaps even offer to restart the program if it supports session saving.
The postinst is probably not the best place though since there could be
multiple packages upgraded and multiple warnings like this would get
annoying.
Any thoughts?
