gnome-panel on multihead problem

Hi,

I am using gnome 2 from unstable (last upgrade today 19.Jan.2003).
I have a quite weird multi head setup (no xinerama though):

Left: nvidia card connected to tv out (no window manager, freevo)
Middle: radeon card connected to 19" monitor (main screen) sawfish
--display=:0.0
Right: matrox millenium ii connected to 15" monitor (irc screen) sawfish
--display=:0.2

I cannot use xinerama, because it seems to irritate the nvidia drivers,
but i am fine with the old style multi head support of x.

The problem that gnome2.2 seems to bring me is the new multi head
support of the gnome-panel. It seems to be a bit too eager for my setup.
I only want to have the gnome-panel displayed (top and bottom) on my
main screen. But I can do what I want top and bottom panels keep
apearing on all three screens.

I tried:
*) Removing the unwanted panels via right mouse click menu
*) killing gnome-panel; restarting it with --display=:0.0 or --screen=0

But whenever I log out and in again, all the 6 panels reappear.

Does anybody have a clue what I can do to make the panel remember what I
tell it (;

many thanks in advance,
Andreas
