Much discussion about this on desktop-devel-list, it will come. GDM already
provides the entire infrastructure to do it, someone just needs to finish
off the user level bits. [ Part of which may involve an xscreensaver front
end daemon for GNOME :-) ]
Definitely on the cards upstream.
