Scrollkeeper has nothing to do with gconf. I only mentioned it because
you said installing the schemas took a long time, and it doesn't. What
takes time is the scrollkeeper update, which is totally unrelated.

Afaik, they are left in the gconf "registry" even in the original
.schemas file has been uninstalled.
