Desktop & menu refresh, system monitor applet gone

Hi,

Today, after gnome 2 in sid upgrade and restart, my system monitor
applet died, with such message:

The panel encountered a problem while loading
"OAFIID:GNOME_MultiLoadApplet"
Details: Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure
occurred

This message now appears everytime, when I try to add system monitor
applet to my panels.

Is anybody else experiencing such problems?

And I also wanted to ask another question which bothers me for a quite a
long time. How to refresh desktop or menu without explicit killing? For
example if I install some program, it doesn't appear in menu, unless I
restart, or kill gnome-panel. Or if I move something to or empty trash,
trash icon doesn't change unless restart or kill. What controls nautilus
and gnome-panel behaviour related to refreshing?

What is more strange at my home box menu does show changes, when it is
changed, without restart, yet at work it doesn't. Both computers at home
and at work have the same Woody+Gnome form Sid configuration.

Thanx for any help and thanx for Gnome. It does rule:)

Mpiktas
