GTK2 theme changes not being kept

Hi, whenever I change the gtk2 theme in gnome-control-center it works
for the current session, but after that it just reverts to the default
theme. any idea how I can fix this? I'm using libgtk2.0-0 2.0.6-4 and
gnome-control-center 2.0.1.1-1
