If you want to be an automaton, and follow policy to the letter even when it
makes no sense, that's okay - we'd ask you to refrain from distributing
binary packages without debugging information.

If you'd like to contribute to the GNOME 2.0 Desktop release, and help us
create better software for Debian's use in the future, then surely you'd
come to the conclusion that this particular aspect of Debian policy should
not apply to pre-release software (it's in experimental!).

I don't believe the Debian policy on common sense is to ignore it.
