Package: sed
Version: 4.0.7-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

after reading #180914, I've searched in man sed and info sed for \'. I think
/usr/share/doc/sed/sedfaq.txt should maybe be mentioned in the section(s)
about regular expression.

Sedfaq says \' is the same as $, but I still don't understand why

echo "abc.xyz" | sed -e "s/\'.*//;"

deletes the entire line and just outputs a newline.

Yours,
 Mike
