I don't know well about libnss-ldap.  It's separate package, and I
guess it's not nscd's problem - it's libnss-ldap related because your
log says your module can't contact to ldap server.

Libnss-ldap maintainer, could you look at this bug?  BTW, it's woody's
bug, so I hope it's already fixed in the latest sarge version.  If
it's glibc problem, please reassign it back and tell us what the
problem is and whether it's even existed or not in the latest glibc.
