AFAIK this wasn't changed between glibc 2.1 and pre1.  nthreads has a
minimum value of 3 (corresponding to three databases which are
accessible).  You can supply a higher value than three, but a lower
doesn't work.  For details search for "nthreads" in the nscd subdirectory
of the glibc sources.
