Things are progressing way faster than expected. :-)  Sébastien Dinot
(who is at LSM as well) approached me right now and we talked for 20min
about otb and other more general stuff.  I think the "missing manpages"
problem will be solved easily if you would provide a manpage for otbgui
and otbcli and we create symlinks for the manpages for all the derived
executables.

I am cc'ing developer list so that you can reach all developers and discuss about man page issue.

Some remaining problem I'd like to deal with are the dealing of the
libraries.  I'd prefer using d-shlibs to move around libraries and I'll
give it a try to put this into the packaging.

BTW, it would be good to provide a --help option:

$ otbcli --help

ERROR: LoadApplication, no module found...
ERROR: No loaded application...
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-close.c: 762: _dl_close: Assertion `map->l_init_called' failed!

Running otbcli with no arguments prints usage for me. For a help option, I would wait for reply from otb-developer group.

$otbcli
 Usage : /usr/local/bin/otbApplicationLauncherCommandLine module_name [MODULEPATH] [arguments]

I'll keep you updated when I have more things for you.  In any case it
would be great if one of your developers would consider to become a
member of the Debian GIS team on alioth.debian.org to get commit
permissions on the packaging code so we could work together on it.

Kind regards

        Andreas.
