 From DebianGIS Twitter: No new changes to frozen packages, waiting for
release. No news, good news?
Answer: For me it is bad news, Tilecache is going to be released broken.
No more broken than it has been ever since it went into Debian. There's a
new package, you can install it, or you can patch your local build, or you
can do whatever you want;
Thanks Chris, We are building our own Debian packages since I have
discovered that problem (and we always will, because we are currently
using some local modifications).
All I want to do is to make life easier for other Debian GIS users and
make Debian GIS quality higher.

this behavior is not a regression, and fixing
non-regressions at this point in the release cycle seems silly.
Even if patch is really simple and it is solving bug in frequently used
feature ?
Yes. If it wasn't important enough to get fixed 6 months ago, why is it
important enough to fix now?

It was always important, but I had always something more important to do - my fault, but better now than never. At least somebody can read this thread in future when dealing with metatiling.
