The likely fix is:
sudo apt-get install python-wxgtk2.6 libwxgtk2.6
Chances are Thuban didn't include the libraries as a required
dependency, and the default install of Ubuntu now use 2.8.
But there is no problem with installing multiple versions.

Thuban was compiled with wx 2.6.3 but wxPython is 2.8.8.0

Why on gods green earth a package like that is in the repositories it
does not work!!! Have you people not tested it? even if there is a
workaround this should not be happening makes the Ubuntu distribution
and Linux in general look very bad.
