Hi Stephan,

Perhap's this is due to the fact that the php_mapscript.so is loaded 
twice. I think new php-mapscript package updates php.ini file and then, 
php_mapscript.so is automticaly loaded with apache startup.
If you put in your script something like "enable php_mapscript...", all 
ms_... functions will be loaded twice and you will see your error message
