Is this a bad thing?  The i586 had its heyday about 15 years ago, and
hasn't been produced for over a decade; it's not surprising that one
has to take some special measures to use it.

Unless there's zero impact from supporting it, it doesn't seem
ridiculous to not do so.  Of course, Debian should make this clear
wherever it lists what architectures are supported...
