I thought there was a bug fix in gcc CVS that addressed this?

Which files? The compiler binaries themselves (gcc, cc1, etc) should be
sparc32. The libraries would be 64-bit. I just checked the binutils on
vore and it does report supporting elf64_sparc, so that message
shouldn't happen. Oh wait! binutils-multiarch is installed, and it
doesn't have elf64_sparc support!

That's the problem...let me remove that package and put this bug on
binutils-multiarch. Try the build again Matthias.
