Bug#122947: libc6: package leaves behind cruft -- but I need that cruft!

Subject: libc6: package leaves behind cruft -- but I need that cruft!
Package: libc6
Version: 2.2.4-6
Severity: minor

Thank you for Debian!

I was building my free software app, Mojo Nation[1], linked against libstdc++2.9
and libc2.1 so that the resulting executable will work on Red Hat 6.2 and other
distros. Then I wrote a document[2] describing to others how they can build
Mojo Nation the same way.

When doing so, I realized that /lib/libc-2.1.3.so on my system belongs to no
package! I hypothesize that it was added to my system by an earlier version of
the `libc6' package, and then got forgotten and became cruft.

So the bug report is that there's an extra file lying around that perhaps the
new version of the package should clean up.

But the wishlist item is: gosh it would be nice if I could put in my hackerdocs:
"To build with old versions of libstdc++ and libc for backwards compatibility
with other Linux distros, `apt-get install libstdc++-2.9-dev glibc-2.1-dev'."

So I do hope that some kind soul decides to package up those old devel
packages for me.
