wide strings don't work in 2.95.x. See the thread starting at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2000-12/msg00863.html for further
information.

However wide strings do work in g++-3.0. This is some kind of
workaround / fixed upstream, so I lower the severity of the report.
