Now there's an exciting idea! We already have fully free distros like
Trisquel on USB cards, so wouldn't FreedomBox on a USB card be the/a
logical, practical step *towards* the stated goal of portable, low cost
device(s) enabling libre/anonymous/secure personal computing? A
FreedomBox USB card seems to me like the most practical and
immediately-useful thing for people who, as Moglen said, are making
democracy on the streets of their oppressive regimes. A "right now"
solution, if you will, which could save lives.
I remember watching Democracy Now interview the tech geeks in Libya who
set up Net comms with the outside world and was horrified to see that
they were using Windows XP. I almost yelled at the screen as if they
could hear me say, "Why are you using a a proprietary system that can
spy on you? Just get a GNU/Linux distro, please!!!"
