It's not america-bashing to point out that symbols already associated
with imperialism are likely to to be ill-received as symbols of freedom.
This is an international list, and for the best dreams of freedombox to
succeed, it needs to be an international project. This means that any
country is liable to come up for criticism, and we need to take it
seriously (and not defensively).
I assume you don't consider the recent "Tahrir Square" thread to be
unacceptable "egypt-bashing" on this list. People need to be able to
discuss the political ramifications of the work, even if it happens to
make some country's government look bad occasionally.
