I see your point but if like me you are not familier with all the
packages then dselect is excellent to be able to browse what is
installed and easily add and remove packages while seeing the impact
that will have on other packages.

Having recently tried Caldera OpenLInux 2.2 and Redhat 6 I have come
back joyfully to dselect. Nothing else just lets me see what is
installed (and how important it is to have different items installed).

I really hope that we do not lose the functionality of dselect for
character mode as I don't put X on our servers.

Of course I use apt as the access method for dselect which again is
something excellent I could not find elsewhere.
