Best are Intel's, but you won't find them as diskrete graphics cards.
r200 (ATI Radeon up to 9250) works very well, too.
ATI cards up to the X850 work, but not as good as the ones listed above.
It took years of reverse-engineering to make them usable. I currently
use a Radeon X850 XT and din't run into any major problems yet.
Most other cards require nonfree drivers.
